There are tribute shows dedicated to individual artists and bands, and then there’s Nothing But A Good Time.
Rather than recreating the music of one particular act, the show celebrates an entire era of rock. It brings together some of the biggest songs, unforgettable anthems and guilty pleasures from a time when guitars were loud, choruses were enormous and rock music was built for packed venues.
That means one night can take audiences through music made famous by artists including Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Europe and many more.
For audiences, that variety is a huge part of the fun. You might arrive with one favourite band in mind, but before long you’re singing along to a song you haven’t heard for years.
And that is really what Nothing But A Good Time is about.
It isn’t an impersonation show. There are no wigs or attempts to convince an audience that they are watching one particular band. Instead, the focus is on recreating the excitement of the music itself with a live band, big vocals and the energy those songs deserve.
The result sits somewhere between a rock concert, a celebration show and the ultimate rock playlist brought to life on stage.
It also gives the band an enormous catalogue to explore. Alongside the instantly recognisable hits are songs that can transport an audience straight back to a particular album, car journey, nightclub, festival or moment in their lives.
That connection is one of the reasons this music continues to fill venues decades after many of the songs were first released.
Rock fashions may have changed, but a huge chorus has never really gone out of style.
For Start Events, Nothing But A Good Time also represents something slightly different within our programme. While we love producing shows celebrating individual artists, live entertainment doesn’t have to fit neatly into the traditional tribute format.
Sometimes the artist being celebrated is an entire generation of music.
And when the opening chords of a song you know within two seconds ring out across the venue, there’s really only one thing left to do.
Turn it up.
